LPC-LINK Timeout errors (again!)

Apologies for the long post but I get the log file below when the upload to the board (LPC-LINK to LPC1769) gives up with a timeout error:

I have tried a few times and it always fails at the same block (15), if I say no to continue waiting then I get a message
"No emulator or board available This could be because it is unpowered, unconnected or already in use"

The board is powered up and running the last downloaded program (demo).

I have read the other posts on this subject and I'm still stuck...

You don't say whether this is a standard LPC1769 LPCXpresso board, or if it is a custom board.

But, it sounds like either a power problem, or a problem with you USB cable. Try a different USB2 certified cable and also try other USB ports on your PC.

Thanks for the reply, I am using a standard Xpresso baseboard from Embedded Artists, with LPC-Link and LPC Xpresso LPC1769 RevB.

I have changed the poer supply to a powered hub with 2.5amp supply and switched USB cables around.

The laptop (Lenovo T510 Win 7 Ult) reports as a device 'USB Device with DFU capabilities' but I get the same error.

As background, I bought the boards last year and eventually uploaded the demo program (which the board is currently running) so Ifeel happy that the board functions correctly. Other stuff forced me to drop the project until now...

I would be grateful (as ever) for any help, I really need to get this working :-)

Did you already try to use an easy system = LPCXpresso (without Baseboard) and direct USB connection to your Laptop ?

How are you powering the Baseboard? You are *powering* the baseboard aren't you? If not, please read the docs...

Zero, I haven't tried that option yet - but I will give it a go...

TheFallGuy, I am powering the baseboard using a powered usb hub into the usb socket next to the green connection block J15, the usb connector on the LPC-Link goes to my laptop ...

Some progress...

After much unplugging, repowering and swapping usb ports (on laptop) when the 'Initialising LPC-Link' window opens I now get the sound that Windows gives when a usb device is plugged in and the LPC-Link window closes.

Now I get the warning that the program is too big for the licence, I am compling the 'demo' program here are the figures:

I get the same result as the last post with the LPC1769 board on it's own or attached to the baseboard

p.s. when on it's own attaching the usb cable (already attached to pc) brings on LED2 (red) this doesn't happen attached to the baseboard.

I experience this problem every 5-10 days and when it happens then the particular USB port on which it happens is no good for XRESSO development any more (gets kiond of locked out on timeout for good). Pitty that there is no way to fully UNINSTALL USB drivers from XPRESSO LINK.

I have 2 more ports on my PC that never saw XPRESSO on them but after that I guess there is no other way but to run System Restore from the Win Restoration Point going back "few USB port failures". I haven't tried this yet but seeing how USB ports get locked out by XPRESSO it would not be that far into the future.

The continuous problems with connecting XPRESSO platform properly with LPC-LINK board is an unbeliavable nuisance in this system. YEar 2012 and comms problems like in early 80-ies.

Problems fixed :-)

The LPC-Link problem:
I have two good quality (apparently identical) mini-USB cables, only one will work to connect the LPC-Link to my laptop so by swapping things around I now have it working. For again unexplained reasons only one (of 3) of the USB ports on the pc will work with LPC-Link.

Program too big for licence:
Thanks to the reply from whitecoe I checked the help to do with cscript.exe, I have to admit to doing a quick and dirty fix by putting a copy of cscript.exe in the Xpresso/bin directory and we are off !
