Does LPCXpresso IDE v8.2.2 support Ubuntu 26.04 LTS?

Hello NXP Team,

I am trying to install/use it on Ubuntu 26.04 LTS for LPC2478 development, but I am facing issues.

Please confirm the supported Ubuntu versions or suggest the recommended IDE/OS.

No, LPCXpresso IDE v8.2.2 is not confirmed to support Ubuntu 26.04 LTS. The official LPCXpresso installation guide is dated July 2016 and lists Linux host support as “Ubuntu 12 and later” , but it also says LPCXpresso was only tested on recent Ubuntu and Fedora releases of that time, and that other Linux cases are not supported if they fail. LPCXpresso is also a 32-bit application that depends on legacy 32-bit compatibility libraries and glibc 2.15+, which is a strong indicator that it doesn't support current Ubuntu releases.

For Ubuntu, the LPCXpresso guide only documents installation flows around Ubuntu 13.04/13.10-era dependency handling, plus Ubuntu 16.04-specific workarounds such as SWT_GTK3=0 for GTK3 incompatibility(LPCXpresso IDE crashes on Ubuntu16.04:i386 installation - NXP Community).

We also officially say LPCXpresso IDE is no longer maintained and compatibility is no longer retested against newer Ubuntu updates.

In addition, since LPC2478 is not supported by MCUXpresso, we recommend either using LPCXpresso on an older Ubuntu environment or migrating to a third-party IDE that supports ARM7 devices.
