topic Migration Path LPC1343FBD48 in LPC Microcontrollers

Good Day All,

I am currently looking at maintaining a long standing product (rev1 dates back to 2010). It uses a LPC1343FBD48 microcontroller to read out a number of ADC values and either engage or disengage circuit breakers. The existing code uses very basic peripherals, timers and interrupts. What is the suggested upgrade path for this family of obsolete microcontrollers if the plan is to maintain this product for 15+ years?

I have come across the MCX A series which appears quite promising, but claims to have a very different hardware architecture, meaning calls to functions such as timer32 and other legacy functions will need to be rewritten. Either way, I am looking for an NXP ARM based microcontroller, that we can be confident is on the longevity program and will likely have new versions released in the coming years.

Thank you,

Regards,

Bjorn

Hello @ampbjorn

Yes, I highly recommend the MCX A series. MCX is NXP’s new MCU family and one of our key promoted product lines. We have already released several products and will continue to launch new MCX A versions.

https://www.nxp.com/products/processors-and-microcontrollers/arm-microcontrollers/general-purpose-mcus/mcx-arm-cortex-m/mcx-a-series-microcontrollers:MCX-A-SERIES

The development tools are also comprehensive and easy to use.

https://www.nxp.com/design/design-center/software/development-software/mcuxpresso-software-and-tools-:MCUXPRESSO

If you have any technical questions during development, please feel free to contact us anytime.
