      <description>&lt;P&gt;It goes something like this - as far as I know - but please correct me if I am wrong....&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Many, many moons ago, in the 8051 days, "Koningklike Phillips Halfgeleiers" or "Royal Phillips Semiconductors" had some 8051 compatible chips that was named something like P89LPC9351....&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;First P was for Phillips&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;LP was for Low Power&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;C was for CMOS&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;thus LPC = Low Power CMOS&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Suppose the LPC just stuck?&lt;/P&gt;</description>
