topic LPC 2138 unable to read from flash in LPC Microcontrollers

I am using this as an IPMI chip and when I am sending a command to it we get a 0xD1 error stating "Command repsonse could not be provided. Device in firmware update mode." From what I can find it is something to do with reading from flash. Does anyone know what could cause this? Is there a pin shorted or something that shouldn't be?
