We have in Freescale several CAN controllers in different MCU families, MSCAN, FLEXCAN,....Every CAN controller have different features in terms of buffers, FIFO's, mailboxes, etc.. The important thing is that module is compliant with CAN standards. From RM:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;"The FlexCAN module is a communication controller implementing the CAN protocol according to the CAN 2.0B protocol specification"&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN lang="JA" style="font-family: TimesLTStd-Roman; font-size: 14pt;"&gt;&lt;SPAN lang="JA" style="font-family: TimesLTStd-Roman; font-size: 14pt;"&gt;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;SPAN class="mce_paste_marker"&gt;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;If the module have additional features, you can manage the CAN bus with more flexibility and capabilities or less CPU load.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Luis&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
