topic Getting started with S9KEAZN8AMTG in Kinetis Microcontrollers

Hi.

What is the toolchain needed to flash my C program on a S9KEAZN8AMTG MCU? If it is similar to any Cortex M0+ MCU, I have the IDE (MCUXpresso), I've bought the debug/flashing probe (MCU-Link and a TagConnect TC2030 to program the MCU on my PCB), downloaded the drivers for the probe (LinkServer) and I'm looking for the SDK of my MCU to build with the IDE to complete my toolchain.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @maxmad

Thanks for your post,

The KEA series is not supported by MCUXpresso IDE, this is a legacy product so you need to use another alternative of IDEs like S32 Design Studio IDE for Arm based MCUs

You could refer to the Getting Started of some of the KEA FRDM board: Getting Started with the FRDM-KEAZ128

Notice that if you are using a custom board, you will need an external debugger/programmer like PEMicro multilink or Jlink. The FRDM boards has a K20 that could use OpenSDA to flash/debug the KEA.

Hi @carlos_o

Thanks for your explanations! How could I proceed then from this point onwards? Since I have physically the TC2030 and the MCU-Link, is there a way to turn it into a Segger J-Link by flashing legacy firmware?

If I go with S32, will I find directly or be prompted to download the correct SDKs (if any) for the programming of my MCU?

Thanks in advance, and sorry in advance for the many questions, it's my first time working on the NXP ecosystem!

Best regards.
