Programming application to NXP Kinetis MCUs

How is the application flashed to target MCUs flash memory? Is it stored in SRAM and flashed or is it directly flashed to the flash memory in the MCU?

It is flashed on the internal flash. More details are found in the boot chapter of the respective Reference Manual.
