I have an issue identifying the processor MKE16F256VLL16. The marking on the processor is MKE16F256VLL16. I read the SIMSID register as 0x1427008A, which indicates a mismatch in RAM size and SUBFAMID.

31-28 FAILYID = 0001 ok

27-24 SUBFAMID = 0100 ?? (working processor has 0110)

23-20 SERIESID = 0100 ok

19-16 RAMSIZE = 0111 not ok

15-12 REVID = 0000 ok

11-7 PROJECTID = 00001 ok

0-7 PINID = 001010 ok

I can't find the meaning of SUBFAMID. Does anyone know the meaning of SUBFAMID and can confirm if this is not the correct processor?

Hello @arecki,

The RAMSIZE incorrect number is explained in the Mask Set Errata for Mask 0N79P. ERR010575: BootROM: Two Bootloader GetProperty commands of RAM size and start address return value are not correct.

According to the Kinetis KE1xF Sub-Family Reference Manual, this is the Kinetis E-series Sub-Family ID which specifies the Kinetis E-series sub-family of the device.

Let us double check, the expected value of the SUBFAMID for the MKE16F256VLL16 processor. As soon as we have an answer, we will let you know.

Kind regards, Raul.

Hello @arecki,

We apologize for the delay. It is not possible to have two kinds of SUBFAMID for the KE16F device. Since, the KE14F device has no FlexCAN.

Does your MKE16F256VLL16 (SUBFAMID 0x4) device support FLEXCAN?

Also, could you please share with us a clear photo of your device?

Kind regards, Raul.
