Hello all,

I am trying to fix a scoreboard that is controlled by a mkl25z128vlh4. The original company that created the board no longer exists so I cannot contact them. Is there a way to read the code off the old chips and reprogram a new one?

Thanks

I recommend you might check with your local law/legal situation what you are allowed to do, and what not.

Regardless, if the device is not secured and locked, you are able to read-out the device, and if mass erase is not disabled, then you can reprogram the device.

some articles on that subject(s):

https://mcuoneclipse.com/2019/05/26/reverse-engineering-of-a-not-so-secure-iot-device/

https://mcuoneclipse.com/2014/10/05/unlocking-and-erasing-flash-with-segger-j-link/

https://mcuoneclipse.com/2012/11/04/how-not-to-secure-my-microcontroller/

I hope this helps,

Erich
