Hello,

We just bought the FRDM-K64F to start development on a new project. The first thing we try to do is use KDS design studio to flash the board but we are getting the error below. We have nave never flashed the board before. We are using the latest KDS.

We tried using MCUXpresso but there was not option to flash the board using OpenOCD.

Open On-Chip Debugger 0.8.0-dev (2015-01-09-16:23)
Licensed under GNU GPL v2
For bug reports, read
http://openocd.sourceforge.net/doc/doxygen/bugs.html
Info : only one transport option; autoselect 'cmsis-dap'
Info : CMSIS-DAP: SWD Supported
Info : CMSIS-DAP: Interface Initialised (SWD)
Info : add flash_bank kinetis kinetis.flash
cortex_m reset_config sysresetreq
adapter speed: 1000 kHz
Info : CMSIS-DAP: FW Version = 1.10
Info : SWCLK/TCK = 0 SWDIO/TMS = 1 TDI = 0 TDO = 0 nTRST = 0 nRESET = 1
Info : DAP_SWJ Sequence (reset: 50+ '1' followed by 0)
Info : CMSIS-DAP: Interface ready
Info : clock speed 1000 kHz
Info : IDCODE 0x2ba01477
Error: Cannot access device, device is secured
Info : Mass erasing a device will unsecure it until the next reset.

Hi Desmond,

Have you tried loading the P&E or J-Link firmware to the FRDM-K64F? You can find more information on this link:

https://community.nxp.com/docs/DOC-105199

Also, I would recommend you to use MCUXpresso which is the newest IDE and has replaced KDS.

Hope it helps!

Best Regards,
Carlos Mendoza
Technical Support Engineer
