Hi,

I am working on UART communication module of MK22FX512VMC12 controller. K22 controller operated on 3.3V supply and external communication module operated on 5V supply.my communication is working properly with external module.

As per datasheet gpio pins operated on 5V but no idea about uart communication module operating pin voltage 5V.

Is it ok if i connect K22 controller UART pins(Txd, Rxd) to 5V operated module(Txd ,Rxd pins) ?

Thanks,

#Sharad‌

Hi Sharad,

The Kinetis Port pins are only 5V tolerant as inputs. The outputs are not 5V tolerant, and that includes pins configured as open-drain outputs(Don't pullup to 5V).

Output pins(TXD) would only be driven to 3.3V. If the 5V device will recognize that as a high, then it's ok.

Best Regards,

Robin

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: If this post answers your question, please click the Correct Answer button.
