Hi

I had the opportunity to discuss this with freescale and the 150MHz version with FPU should sample in November 2011.

There was some suggestion that there were difficulties with the initial FPU IP from ARM which caused problems but freescale explained that the FPU was not available at the time the Kinetis was started and so there was no possibility to put it into the initial parts - in the meantime it has become available (as IP from ARM) and the sampling date therefore corresponds to the original road-map plan and doesn't represent a delay due to initial difficulties.

Other semiconductor manufacturers who have recently released their Cortex M4 offerings include the FPU as standard (eg. one manufacturer with 65nm process suggest that the FPU space requirement is not very significant and so it will always be there; subsequently they will only supply M4F and never M4 [without F]). Other Cortex M4 manufacturers will offer the FPU as an option (eg. one manufacturer will launch with M4F very shortlys but later give customers the opportunity to order M4 [without F]).

Regards

Mark
