K32L2B3 SWD Pin Overwrite - Debug error: 02: failed on connect could not connect to core

Hi everyone,

I just started working with a Freedom Development Board for the K32L2B3 MCU series (https://www.nxp.com/design/development-boards/freedom-development-boards/mcu-boards/nxp-freedom-development-platform-for-k32-l2b-mcus:FRDM-K32L2B3).

During some tests, the SWD(PTA3 Pin) got multiplexed as GPIO. After this, the debugger does not seem to connect properly anymore (i.e. I cannot reprogram the device). The error that I receive is: "02: failed on connect could not connect to core" as soon as I click on debug with one of the SDK example programs (these worked fine in the beginning).

I tried holding the reset button during the debug sequence, but this gives the error: "Cannot halt processor Failed on chip setup: Ep(04). Cannot halt processor."

Is there any way to reset the SWD Pin functionality on the K32L2B3 series?
