Using J6 for power on the MIMXRT685-AUD-EVK

This seems like a relatively simple question but I can't quite piece it out - how do I use the J6 USB connection for supplying standalone power and run one of the provided example applications (I am running the I2S TDM DMA record-playback demo). I see that I have power, but the application is not running.

Thank you for your interest in the NXP MIMXRT product, I would like to provide service for you.

You can't make the demo work, it should related to the board settings, not the J6 power.

Please help to check these points:

Board settings
==============
To make example work, please make sure board settings are applied:
JP43 1-2, R488 1-2
R479 1-2, R429 1-2
R480 1-2, R481 1-2
R510 1-2, R474 1-2
R482 1-2, R478 1-2
JP8 1-2, R491 1-2
R394 1-2, R395 1-2
Prepare the Demo
================
1. Connect headphones to J4 or J50 or J51 or J52.
2. Connect source of sound(from PC or Smart phone) to Audio Line-In connector (J56 or J55, J57).
3. Connect a micro USB cable between the PC host and the CMSIS DAP USB port (J5) on the board
4. Open a serial terminal with the following settings:
- 115200 baud rate
- 8 data bits
- No parity
- One stop bit
- No flow control
5. Download the program to the target board.
6. Launch the debugger in your IDE to begin running the demo.
Running the demo
================
When the demo runs successfully, you can hear,
 
Line in J55 -> Line out J4
 
Line in J56 -> Line out J50
 
Line in J57 -> Line out J51
 
Please help to check it.

@kerryzhou The demo works fine - when power is connected to J5. However, when I try to use a standalone power source (J6). The demo is not operational. Reset appears to work and the board is powered, but my application does not work.

So, the question is - do I have to do something different with the demo application to allow me to use one of the other USB connectors for power?

Please let me know your used MIMXRT685-AUD-EVK version, I mean, the on board SCH-XXX REVXXX?

Which REV?

Then, I will help you to check it on my side!

Normally, just power the USB power interface is also OK to use.

Hi @mrichardson23 ,

The same board like your, I am also using the SCH-48239 Rev B1.

It works OK.

Please follow me.

1. You can find another USB cable to connect the J6 when J5 also be connected.

This method, you should works OK.

2. Unplug your J5, just leave J6, then check the voice, it should also works OK.

3. You can unplug your J6, plug it again, then press the reset button SW3, it should also works.

Please try it on your side.

This is my test result:

You can see, my test result, 2 methods are all working with J6, please try it again on your side.

If you still have issues, you can compare your jumper to my board at first.
