Hi, jersey yang

I face the same issue on Renesas R-car with Murata module. My issue is same with you. The AP is setup, but the AP ssid can not be scanned. I found the solution: insmod the bcmdhd.ko with option "op_mode=2".

The root cause is that the "op_mode" is initialized as 0, when setup AP mode "wl_cfg80211_start_ap()", it will check, then failed. However, set 2 to op_mode by your command "echo 2 > /sys/module/bcmdhd/parameters/op_mode" does not work. I found use "op_mode=2" when insmod driver works fine.

My analysis is as following:

1) "CFG80211-ERROR) check_dev_role_integrity : device role select failed" shows failed,

static bool check_dev_role_integrity(struct bcm_cfg80211 *cfg, u32 dev_role)
{
dhd_pub_t *dhd = (dhd_pub_t *)(cfg->pub);
if (((dev_role == NL80211_IFTYPE_AP) &&
!(dhd->op_mode & DHD_FLAG_HOSTAP_MODE)) ||
((dev_role == NL80211_IFTYPE_P2P_GO) &&
!(dhd->op_mode & DHD_FLAG_P2P_GO_MODE)))
{
WL_ERR(("device role select failed\n"));
return false;
}
return true;
}

The error is the "op_mode" error, initialized value 0.

2) "op_mode" is a module parameter, so just set a value when insmod the driver.

module_param(op_mode, int, 0644);

Following is my log:

1) error log using "insmod /lib/modules/bcmdhd.ko firmware_path=/etc/firmware/fw_bcmdhd.bin nvram_path=/etc/firmware/bcmdhd.cal dhd_msg_level=0"

hostapd /etc/hostapd/hostapd_wps_wpa_11g.conf -B
Configuration file: /etc/hostapd/hostapd_wps_wpa_11g.conf
rfkill: Cannot open RFKILL control device
nl80211: Could not re-add multicast membership for vendor events: -2 (No such file orCFG80211-ERROR) wl_cfg80211_del_station : directory)
wlaDisconnect STA : ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff scb_val.val 3
n0: interface state UNINITIALIZED->COUNTRY_UPDATE
Using interface wlan0 with hwaddr 00:90:4c:55:66:77 and ssid "murata_test"
CFG80211-ERROR) check_dev_role_integrity : device role select failed
wlan0: interface state COUNTRY_UPDATE->ENABLED
wlan0: AP-ENABLED

2) Correct log using "insmod /lib/modules/bcmdhd.ko firmware_path=/etc/firmware/fw_bcmdhd.bin nvram_path=/etc/firmware/bcmdhd.cal dhd_msg_level=0 op_mode=2"

root@ale6:~# hostapd /etc/hostapd/hostapd_wps_wpa_11g.conf -B
Configuration file: /etc/hostapd/hostapd_wps_wpa_11g.conf
rfkill: Cannot open RFKILL control device
nl80211: Could not re-add multicast membership for vecfg80211: Calling CRDA for country: US
ndor events: -2 CFG80211-ERROR) wl_cfg80211_reg_notifier : (No such file or directoSet country code US from User
ry)
wlan0: interface state UNINITIALIZED->COUNTRY_UPDATE
cfg80211: Regulatory domain changed to country: US
cfg80211: (start_freq - end_freq @ bandwidth), (max_antenna_gain, max_eirp)
cfg80211: (2402000 KHz - 2472000 KHz @ 40000 KHz), (3000 mBi, 0 mBm)
cfg80211: (5170000 KHz - 5250000 KHz @ 80000 KHz), (1700 mBi, 0 mBm)
cfg80211: (5735000 KHz - 5835000 KHz @ 80000 KHz), (3000 mBi, 0 mBm)
cfg80211: (57240000 KHz - 63720000 KHz @ 2160000 KHz), (4000 mBi, 0 mBm)
CFG80211-ERROR) wl_cfg80211_del_station : Disconnect STA : ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff scb_val.val 3
root@ale6:~# CFG80211-ERROR) wl_cfg80211_set_channel : netdev_ifidx(5), chan_type(1) target channel(2)
CFG80211-ERROR) wl_cfg80211_parse_ies : No WPSIE in beacon
CFG80211-ERROR) wl_cfg80211_parse_ies : No WPSIE in beacon

Then my AP ssid "murata_test" is found by phone wifi scan.

BR,
