Documentation for I.MX6 VPU Video API

I have a copy of the i.MX VPU Application Programming Interface Linux® Reference Manual from 03/2016. Is it current? Is it supported.

I ask because first although the manual says

VPU example application is located under Yocto Project build tmp work tree in imx-test/*/test/mxc_vpu_test

I can't find any such folder. And so after much searching I found a vpu_wrapper.h file but the structures and functions in it are named differently than in the programming manual above.

I hope there is a well documented and supported API for Linux user-space program to use the VPU for H.264 encoding/decoding.
