Ethernet PHY not found - u-boot migration

Hello,

I am using a custom board derived from the Sabre Smart Device from Freescale. I managed to adapt the 2014 version of u-boot to start the board. The system start correctly, but there is a problem with our PHY (which is of course different than the sabre SDB one).

Here is the output of u-boot :

In u-boot 2009, the code of the PHY is very close to the sabre SDB one. Only the "mx6_rgmii_rework" need to be modified. here is the old code:

Hi Philippe

There is maybe two separate issues :

>Net: Phy not found

>PHY reset timed out

Uboot does not find the phy where you provided a phy address.

If your phy is at 0x00 (for mdio) then make sure

you configure uboot accordingly so that it finds your phy.

Also, how are you setting the mac address in uboot. If

you are providing some fake mac addresses this might

cause the ARP errors you are seeing.

Thank you for the tips! That was the problem: in our old uboot, it was configured to 'discover' the PHY, in the new one, the address is set at 1 (and our PHY address is 0). It is working like a charm now (even with a fake MAC :smileyhappy:).

FI, the PHY is a Marvell 88E3019.
