Unfortunately there is not a hardware decoder option available for the qt-media player right now. Only gstreamer allows for this option as of today.

Hi,

I am trying to run some HD video on the i.mx6 SOLO in Yocto.

I tried the qt-media player and the "video" player that is build in in Yocto-x11, the CPU load runs up to around 30% when the video is playing.

However, when i use gst-launch command (gstreamer) through console, the CPU load is less than 10%.

From the above, i would think that the qt-media player and the "video" player in the Yocto is using software decoder, while gstreamer is using hardware decoder, and thus has the difference in CPU load.

Is there anyway we can get the qt-media player to use the hardware decoder? Or is there any player for Yocto that utilise the hardware decoder like gstreamer?

Thank you.

Regards,

Zhen Cong Tee
