Hi to all

I am newbie with the Freescale i.Mx28x family and I have a question about the UART pins and its functionality.

In our design we use uart pins in a combination with the external RS485 transceiver. My doubts are related to nRE and DE signals on RS485 transceivers. Usually we connect this pins to GPIOs but in this case using i.Mx287 we will connect them to RTS signal of the UART.

Does anyone has any experience that this will work using RTS signal or if i rephrase my question, can I use RTS signal of the uart as GPIO instead of RTS functionality?

Thanks for your answers, Sash

Hi,

With imx28x, you can configure each pin in specific function or GPIO. Then, I think you can use RTS pin as GPIO for nRE/DE but you have to modify the linux driver
