IMX8MP DART board WIFI bringup

I am trying to get wifi working on the DART-MX8M-PLUS with Yocoto Scarthgap. I noticed in the demo image that variscite provides there are kernel objects called moal.ko and mlan.ko which are not being built into my custom image even though I have the variscite layers, so I think I might need to include more of the recipes. How can I get these modules to build into the yocto image? Are there any other recipes that are needed to be included into the build for wifi to automatically work at boot?

I have gotten the moal and mlan drivers to show up which has made the wlan0 network interface show up as well, allowing me to get wifi to connect. The only thing now is that there is an error repeatedly printed: "ERR: Role is AP"
