HDMI Resolution Issue on i.MX8ULP EVK with Android (Android 14.0.0_1.2.0)

Hi,

I am evaluating i.MX 8ULP Evaluation Kit, with a Full-HD HDMI monitor and the monitor displayed "no signal" when the EVK was booted with default OS image, but I can see the messages displayed in debug console, suggesting that it was booting but problem with HDMI.

Subsequently i downloaded latest Android Image Android 14.0.0_1.2.0 and flash it with command:


PS D:\android-14.0.0_1.2.0_image_8ulpevk> .\uuu_imx_android_flash.bat -f imx8ulp -a -e -u trusty-dual -d hdmi

Same thing observed which the HDMI is not displaying. Then I try to use a HDMI to USB video capture adapter and I saw the Android screen displayed on my Windows camera app.

Checking the size of display using debug console

evk_8ulp:/ $ wm size
Physical size: 720x480

Checking the latest release notes Android Release Notes (nxp.com)

The maximum resolution is HDMI 720x480.

What is the reason for this limitation?
What HDMI monitors were being tested with i.MX 8ULP EVK Android and Yocto Images?
Any other suggestions?
