topic i.MX8M Plus - maximum RAM - reference guide unclear in i.MX Processors

Hello,

in the i.MX8M Plus reference guide Link reference guide it does say in chapter 2.2:

So can both i.MX8M Plus Dual / Quad adress up to 8GB DDR Ram? I read it as there is a 3GB limit in every case, as both contain a M7-core.

Probably it is not limited to 3GB RAM, as the evalboard 8MPLUSLPD4-EVK does come with 6GB RAM. So in what scenario is an i.MX8M Plus Dual/Quad not able to adress the first 5120MB RAM? How to interpret the first row ?

Thanks for the support!

Hi @lucienpaulus

I hope you are doing well

Please find the answer below.

Yes, both iMX 8M Plus Dual and Quad can address up to 8 GB DDR RAM.

The EVK comes with 6 GB of DDR but the processor can address up to 8 GB of DDR. and hence in EVK, we will be able to access the address from 1_0000_0000 to 0x1_bFFF_FFFF.(3 GB). Else it will give bus error.

Thanks & Regards

Sanket Parekh
