iMX8MQ Device Tree Overlay

Hi!

I'm trying to add a device tree overlay file to enable the hardware watchdog on our imx8mq som. I read here: https://community.nxp.com/t5/i-MX-Processors/IMX8MMini-device-tree-overlay/m-p/950736 that in 2019 nxp didnt support device tree overlays, however, I saw that some vendors now have BSP support for imx8 boards--is there a way to enable this device tree overlay support in our kernel? I, unfortunately, don't see a /boot/overlay directory

you can refer to the document as below, these API in the document supports DT overlay
