topic QSPI vs eCSPI differences in features (i.mx 8m plus) in i.MX Processors

Is there a basic overview that shows the differences between the QuadSPI vs the eCSPI peripherals?

i.e. what features and hw formats are supported, standard full duplex SPI vs half duplex when running quad, etc.

I have the QSPI normally used for booting the i.mx free and will instead use it to bridge to another mcu. The question is what would be the most efficient way to get a full dma'ed 2-way link between the two.

Hello,

For this you may refer to their respective chapter in the Reference manual:
https://www.nxp.com/webapp/Download?colCode=IMX8MPRM

10.1 Enhanced Configurable SPI (ECSPI)

10.2 FlexSPI Controller (FlexSPI)

Best regards,
Aldo.

Hi Aldo,

Can you please help guide how to setup so that the DMA transfer can be triggered autonomously from either side (device spi talking upstream to the host spi == imx)

I was thinking a GPIO -> IRQ to trigger it, but would be even better if there are mechanisms as part of the FlexSPI or ECSPI peripherals themselves.
