Unable to enter u-boot while pressing any key

I am using i.mx8mp evk board. While booting from emmc, when i press any key within 2 seconds to stop auto-boot it is not happening. When after booting is completed, when I press anything after uboot it is not taking any input. Even this booting is not right, please check and give step by step detailed suggestion since I am a beginner how to do it? I tried twice but it is not recognising any input. Yesterday I tried to boot from sd card too but faced the same problem.

Hello,

Well there is not much of a step by step guide I can give, I tried on my side with default image and it stops well at uboot, I can even log in Linux properly after it finish booting.

I'll recommend checking that the cable used for debug connection is correct and the cable have no damage.

Also, checking that minicom have the correct configuration.

What I always do is when I see the first uboot messages, I press Enter key a couple of times so I don't miss the countdown, and that’s it.

Just for the record I use a windows host PC and use tera term for the serial connection.
