topic ntpclient buffer overflow in i.MX Processors

ntpclient buffer overflow

I have some trouble with ntpclient:

root@freescale ~$ uname -a

Linux freescale 2.6.35.3-571-gcca29a0 #6 PREEMPT Tue May 7 09:22:00 CEST 2013 armv5tejl GNU/Linux

root@freescale ~$ ntpclient -h no.pool.ntp.org

*** buffer overflow detected ***: ntpclient terminated

Aborted

root@freescale ~$

I have searched for a solution with not luck. Maybe it is a setup problem?

Anyone got ntpclient working?

ntpd from BusyBox-1.20.2 work fine and supported client mode.

Hi arjada!

I had the buffer overflow as well. I checked the version of ntpclient in the packages. I had ntpclient_2003_194.tar.gz.

Checking on Larry Doolittle's site, doolittle.icarus.com/ntpclient, the latest version is 2010_365 and 2003_194 is marked as 'do not use'. (As of the writing of this post.) I downloaded the newest version and updated the .spec to suit and it works well enough.
