Hi Team,

I have generated a yocto Linux AGL image for imx8mq evk board. Now how to make common kernel with automotive changes done using yocto such that linux+android will be supported. Based on some input like android, android has to boot and if input is linux then linux has to boot.

Is it possible to make a common kernel(Linux+ Android) with automotive changes for IMX8M evk board.

Thanks & Regards,

C.Himabindu.

Q. Is it possible to make a common kernel(Linux+ Android) with automotive changes for IMX8M evk board.

A. Seems that nobody has tried to do it so far.

The Embedded Linux and Android Auto BSPs, supported by NXP, are available separately:

https://www.nxp.com/design/software/embedded-software/i-mx-software/embedded-linux-for-i-mx-applications-processors:IMXLINUX

https://www.nxp.com/design/software/embedded-software/software-technology-for-android-auto:ANDROID-AUTO

Moreover, only the i.MX8QuadMax SoC is currently supported for Android Auto by NXP.

Best Regards,
Artur

No, it is not possible to run the imx8qm-mek image on the i.MX8MQuad EVK board, since the hardware (including processors) is absolutely incompatible.

Best Regards,
