I2C GPIO Mode

Hi,

I can't seem to find an official document or source about change the mode from I2C to GPIO fix against I2C bus lockups. Is this method safe? We are worried it might damage the chip.

one can look at i2c recovery patch

raymond1860 / uboot-imx / commit / de0443f4d458 — Bitbucket

also one can try to change through iomux settings i2c function to gpio.

I'm assuming this is applicable for all IMX chips? I just have to adjust the addresses depending on the chip.
