I downloaded this gitrepository https://github.com/likewise/meta-freescale

is for the IMX53, and installed bitbake and downloaded openembedded, what would be next?

I read the user manual but is a bit confusing

Hi andrebella,

I recommend you to follow the steps of this training:

https://community.freescale.com/docs/DOC-94035

It gives as example the board imx6qsabresd but you can easily change for imx53qsb.
