Hi Community,

I have a question about the TJA1100. We are using TJA1100 PHY for our automotive applications with the i.MX6 Dual Plus combination. We have requirement to fetch PHY Rx and Tx failure count. We gone through the TJA1100 PHY datasheet, I find

1) Link fail counter register (Register 26)

      * LOC_RCVR_CNT[15:8] &

      * REM_RCVR_CNT[7:0])

             (or)

2) Communication status register (Register 23)

      * RECEIVE_ERR[4] &

      * TRANSMIT_ERR [3]

Which register we need to prefer to counting receiver error count and transmit error count.

I have the following doubts,

1) If register 26 is correct, then shall we assume like below

     Local receiver count(LOC_RCVR_CNT) = Tx failure

     Remote receiver count(REM_RCVR_CNT) = Rx Failure

        (or)

2) If register 23 is correct, then shall we assume like below

     RECEIVE_ERR = We need to increase the count as Rx failure, as soon as this bit is enabled.

     TRANSMIT_ERR = We need to increase the count as Rx failure, as soon as this bit is enabled.

Could someone please clarify my doubt.

Thanks,

UVee
