MfgTool Hang Issue

Hi,

Our processor model is IMX6UL.

I met a very strange symptom while downloading image into flash through MfgTool.

I used MfgTool to download images(Uboot, kernel, dtb, rootfs).
The result of downloading procedure is pass.

However, target cannot be boot up , even no any uboot log.

This is may due to my wrong uboot image, I am not sure so far.

So, I tried to download images again.

But, MfgTool always hang on "Loading U-boot".

It seems some error while boot ROM handle this command?

Could you help me to re-download images into my target via MfgTool?

By the way, this target is HAB disabled. (I checked this through "hab_status" commnad of uboot)

I just found one of root cause.
I downloaded the uboot of sd card to flash..

However, if it hang on wrong uboot, why MfgTool still can find the USB-HID device?

And why I cannot use MfgTool to download correct images to flash again?

Hi carter

for new board mfg tool firmware (files in /firmware folder) should be rebuilt

with new ddr calibration coefficients found from ddr test

(put them in uboot/..mx6ul_14x14_evk/imximage.cfg)

Rebuilding is described in sect.6.2 Manufacturing Tool, MFGTool attached Yocto Guide.

Hi Igor,

I am not sure what you mean "for new board mfg tool firmware (files in /firmware folder) should be rebuilt".

In the first time, I can download images(uboot, kernel, and rootfs) through MfgTool into the target.

But the uboot is wrong(this uboot is for sd card, however I downloaded it into flash)..
After that, I cannot re-download images via MfgTool.

The target is always in serial download mode, why I cannot download images again through MfgTool?

Hi carter

since mfg tool is small linux image the same procedure should

be implemented for it when changing board. Original mfg tool from link

i.MX Software|NXP

was built for nxp reference boards and may not work for other boards.

So new ddr coefficiaents should be changed in uboot/..mx6ul_14x14_evk/imximage.cfg

and mfg tool rebuilt. Below mfg tool overview which may be helpful:

I got it.

But why the first time of downloading is successful?

After I downloaded bad uboot into flash, then I cannot use the same MfgTool to download images again.
