DDR3 Memory Selection

Hello..

I am Ansari Asmat Ali and I don't have previous experience with processor board design.I want to make a i.MX6UL Based Board for my learning Purpose.

I have imported Schematic given by nxp IM6UL dev kit. MT41K256M16TW-107:P this ram is not available to purchase

so i have to select another-one.

I have no idea about how to select DDR3 memory. Can anybody tell me how i can select and go ahead with DDR3 memory selection process to interface with i.MX6UL processor.

can anybody tell how i can proceed selection for lpddr3 memory. or any ram.

Hello Asmat,

The i.MX6UL Multi-mode DDR Controller (MMDC) is compatible with JEDEC-compliant SDRAM so you should be able to use a memory similar to Micron’s MT41K256M16TW-107:P .

The supported configurations are listed in Section 4.10.2 of the i.MX6UL (link below)

A useful tool is the I.MX6UL DDR3 Script Aid, which allows you setup the registers depending on your DDR specifications so you can make sure you have the adequate information to setup the memory.

Thanx for replay.. this help me lot.

In i.MX 6UltraLite EVK Boards Ram (MT41K256M16TW-107:P) is tRCD-t RP-CL = 13-13-13 is used
and what i found alternate for this ram ( IS43TR16128CL-125KBL-TR )having tRCD-t RP-CL = 11-11-11.

MT41K256M16TW-107:P Ram Having Clock frequency 993Mhz and DDR3L.

IS43TR16128CL-125KBL-TR Ram Having Clock frequency 800Mhz and DDR3L.
So What i do next? is the both Ram is compatible? or i need to setup registers according to IS43TR16128CL-125KBL-TR this Ram.
