      <title>changing default root password</title>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;I have imx6ul dev board&amp;nbsp; &lt;BR /&gt; &lt;BR /&gt; I tried to add a password for yocto login.&amp;nbsp; &lt;BR /&gt;steps I did:&lt;BR /&gt;create an MD5 password&lt;BR /&gt;Copied the generated hash output string and replace the MD5_ROOT_PASSWD with it.&lt;BR /&gt;in the local.conf file, removed debug-tweaks extra_image_features&lt;BR /&gt;rebuild the images.&lt;BR /&gt; &lt;BR /&gt; after installed the images, at prompt&lt;BR /&gt;&amp;nbsp; login:&lt;BR /&gt; type root, password: is not prompted&lt;BR /&gt; &lt;BR /&gt; Then I added&lt;BR /&gt; useradd - p 'password hash string' admin&lt;BR /&gt; after rebuild and install the images, at prompt&lt;BR /&gt; login: admin&lt;BR /&gt; Password:&lt;BR /&gt; &lt;BR /&gt; it shows the password, but returns login incorrect&lt;BR /&gt; &lt;BR /&gt; What did I miss?&lt;BR /&gt; &lt;BR /&gt; Thank you,&lt;BR /&gt; &lt;BR /&gt; David&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
