SCM IMX6D/Q heating issues on Android/Linux.

Hi,

The SCM IMX6D/Q board heats up a lot when using GPU. It is consistent across Linux and Android.

Linux build : imx-4.1.15-2.0.0_ga release

Android : Marshmallow 6.0.1_2.1.0

On Linux, when I run glmark2 (multiple instances), the CPU reaches > 85C in ~ 5 minutes

On Android, I run skycastle (a GPU benchmark) and the CPU reaches > 85C in less than a minute.

Are there any heatsink solutions available for this SCM IMX6 board ?

What is the recommended thermal solution for a POP package ? (Is there any documentation for that)

To design a heatsink, We would like to know the thermal resistance of the Processor + POP package combination

There is some information regarding the SCM thermal profile but I’m afraid it’s not publicly available so it cannot be shared on this Communities. Would you please open a Case on nxp.com/support to receive the available information?
