FreeMaster 3.2 Issue

I have a problem with FreeMaster 3.2 (EXERev 3.2.4 Dec 9, 2024 349.29 MB FMASTERSW). When I install the software I receive an error (see the attached figure). I have a PC with Windows 8.1 PRO and I am an Administrator.

Hi @Maurizio2,

Are there any logs in "C:\NXP\FreeMASTER 3.2\_FreeMASTER_installation\Logs" ? If so, could you share them ?

Also, when installing FreeMASTER, could you right click the executable and then "Run as Administrator" (to make sure it runs as admin in case the installer fails to acquire admin privileges on its own).

Attached Logs. In the the logs I can't see any problem with admin privileges. Only Freemaster Lite works very fine.

Indeed, the logs look fine which is strange because if the installation fails there should be an error.

Could you clarify "Only Freemaster Lite works very fine." part:

1. Do you mean the installation succeeds when only FreeMASTER Lite options is selected ?

2. The installation succeeds with both tools selected but you are able to start only FreeMASTER Lite ?

If it's the second case could you also check this thread.

I haven't the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Freescale\FreeMASTER (see figure registry.png).

Could you try launching FreeMASTER executable in compatibility mode (eventually as admin) ?

Doesnt' works. I am administator in my PC. I have launched in compatibility mode. I have also applied compatibility mode to pcmaster.exe.

Hello,

it seems the crash during installation and crash when starting the desktop application is caused by the same issue (malfunctioning pcmaster.exe). The installer crashes when it starts the pcmaster.exe as the final step after installation, as part of registration process.

If possible, please open the "cmd" command line "as administrator", then cd to "c:\NXP\FreeMASTER 3.2\FreeMASTER" directory and run register.bat. It should print some messages to console about registering various components (DLLs and EXEs). The one with pcmaster.exe will probably crash, but I wonder if you get any additional message on the command line.

Please share the register.bat output here.

OK, no additional message there.

We will try to test locally on older Win8.1 machine, but this will take time. Our test environment now covers only Win10 and Win11.
