I've installed the Special Edition CW 5.9.0 as administrator. It never asks if you want this to be just for the administrator or for everyone. When a non-administrator logs in, it is in the list of programs, but is not recognized as installed. If the user navigates down to the correct location, he can start it and run it, so it is not an issue of files not being open to the regular user.

Hello,

it seems this was in issue in the InstallShield (the installation program) used in CW 5.9. To my understanding this has been resolved in CW 6.1 as this uses the new InstallShield which has resolved this.

BK

Perhaps I've overlooked something, but the only edition I see for HCS12 family is 5.9; the version 6.1 is for other chips, not the HCS12 family. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this. Also, is there a patch to fix this problem in 5.9 if it is a known issue?

-- RAM

Version 5.9 is the IDE version, not the actual version of the tools. To get the tools version number, select Help > About Freescale CodeWarrior > Installed Products. If you downloaded the Special Edition of the HC12 tools recently, it has to be version 5. You might file a service request to have this installer feature fixed or added.

Also, when posting a question, remember to include the hardware target name (such as HC(S)08 or HCS12(C)) along with the version number.

---Tom

Message Edited by J2MEJediMaster on 2009-09-18 09:06 AM

So, I have solved this (a bit of a kludge). I temporarily made the non-administrative user an admin. Then installed for him, and changed him back to a member of PowerUsers group. Seems to work for now.

--- RAM
