I have Code Warrior IDE on a windows 11 computer now in order to support our legacy code in assembly. I also love the compare feature when looking at my C code. I don't think you will have any problems with Code Warrior.

What is the best IDE to use for an S08 micro using a Windows 10 computer?

We need to update software and using Codewarrior IDE 5.9.0. I see on the website there is a v6.3. There is a guide to make it run on Windows 7.

I also see there is a ColdWarrior for MCUs (Eclipse IDE) 11.1. I would assume this will work on Windows 10. It looks like it uses an older version of Eclipse than what I use with MCUXpresso.

We are using windows 10. It is not easy for our IT guy to make it work on Windows 10. He asked me what if Microsoft tightens some stuff, then the Codewarrior 5.9.0 would not work. I there something more modern? I am only looking to change a few sections, and not really write new code. Should I make my changes in the present code? and then load the eclipse version when necessary?

Any clarification you can give would be helpful.

Hi Kratz

To work with S08 on win10, please use ColdWarrior for MCUs (Eclipse IDE) 11.1.

MCUXpresso IDE doesn't support S08

Classic CodeWarrior doesn't support win10.

Have a nice day,

Does this advice still hold for 2024? Should I be looking to P&E or go with Codewarrior?

Oh, and we have two engineers, one working on Win7 Pro, the other is on Win11.

Thanks

Alex
