target request failed failed to set breakpoint

I am running Codewarrior for MCU version 11.0.1 build 180609 with an MC9S08GT16a. My project is a relocatable assembly project. When I try to run the debugger, I get a pop-up saying "Error stopping at main. Reason: Target request failed: Failed to set breakpoint. Continue?" If I click "Yes" the debugger starts and seems to run normally. But what is the source of the annoying pop-up?

Previous threads on this problem have been no help. When I created a new project with the same source files, I got the same pop-up. And the "Strip symbolic information" box is not checked.

Is there any problem if you test your code in full chip simulation mode?

Is this problem in any relocatable assembly code?
