Does CodeWarrior for MCUs (v10.6) support the use of the gnu tools (gcc, ld, etc) for building projects for Coldfire processors?

It is Eclipse, it it does not prevent it to use any Eclipse tools (including GNU for ColdFire). CW comes with its own (proprietary, non-GNU) compiler for bare board targets, but it already includes GNU (Codesourcery) for Linux.

So that I am sure I understand you...CodeWarrior provides, for bare board ColdFire targets, a proprietary, non-gnu compiler, but does not constrain the eclipse IDE in any way as to inhibit a developer from integrating and using the gnu toolchain for these targets. Correct?

Followup...Does CodeWarrior provides the gnu toolchain for bare board Kinetis targets? If so, are there any plans for an upcoming CodeWarrior release to provide the gnu toolchain in the same manner for bare board Coldfire targets?

Yes, CW includes a non-GNU compiler for bar board (or RTOS) ColdFire targets, and you can integrate any toolchain you want into Eclipse.

And yes, CodeWarrior does include the GNU toolchain for bare board (and RTOS) Kinetis targets for more than two years. There are no plans for Linux targets (as Kinetis devices are too small). And there is the Kinetis Design Studio too (recently announced, www.freescale.com/kds) which includes the GNU toolchain for ARM.
