HI Peter,

first, please perform search in your hard disk with keyword "license.dat". rename them with license.dat.bk

thus open your CW5.1 IDE, it should not open correctly because your CW can't find any license.

then install your dongle license to your CW5.1 install folder, check if the LM_LICENSE_FILE path includes the license.dat of Codewarrior, please suppress following environment variable: LM_LICENSE_FILE in the right path. The environment variable can be setting by click "start", "settings", "control panel", "system", "Advanced", "environment variable". (See below screenshot) the LM_LICENSE_FILE should be something like: {your CW install}\license.dat

if your dongle license is installed correctly. you should be able to see CW5.1 opened correctly too.

can this help you?

Jennie

Freescale Technical Support

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note: If this post answers your question, please click the Correct Answer button.

Hi Peter,

In addition to Jennie answer you can refer to the post:

How to install/use USBdongle license under Win 8.1? (Include test with CW for MPC55xx V2.7 & CW for HC12 v5.1)

you should find all info to install, use and understand how the USBDongle is running.

It seems you're using CW for HC12 v5.1.

We've some problems with this OS under Win 7 and higher OS.

See below for details:

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

  *********************

CodeWarrior for HC12 v5.1 on Windows 7 with USBdongle.

  *********************

I performed some tests on my side with USBdongle and found the new driver we introduced some months ago (June 2011) is

not working for all CodeWarrior development tool.

Before the new driver was introduced (so before June 2011), the USBdongle worked on XP 32 bit only.

Now the new driver support all 32/64 bit OS so Win 7 too.

Unfortunately the USBdongle is not working for HC12 V5.1 under Windows 7.

I performed some tests on my side and I was not able to launch the debugger with an USBdongle.

The problem is linked to the Flexlm version used by the debugger to manage the license.

The new driver is working for Windows 7.

If you install it, the USBdongle will work for the build tool chain only.

So you could use it to build your application.

However the debugger is not compatible with this new driver - the debugger license can not be checked on the USBdongle.

Why ?

Products built with 8.4a of Flexlm (i.e. All of the classic products) will not be able to support win 7 64-bit with USB dongle licensing.

That support was added in 11.4 of Flexlm and our eclipse products moved to 11.5.

To resume, CW for HC12 V5.1 can be used on Windows 7 but not with USBdongle.

To avoid problem we recommend to rehost the license file to the DISK/HOST ID.

WORKAROUND...

To solve the problem I can propose you to add a new feature which is not locked on the USBDongle for the debugger.

By this way HC12 dev tool will use the dongle feature excepted for the debugger.

I've tried it on my side and already shared it with another customer and this solved the problem.

Before to add the feature I recommend you to check the new dongle driver is correctly installed.

To be sure you've followed the right process I recommend you to:

      - downloaded the last version from Aladdin web site: Sentinel_HASP_Run-time_ cmd_line.zip

ftp://ftp.aladdin.com/pub/hasp/Sentinel_HASP/Runtime_%28Drivers%29/Sentinel_HASP_Run-time_cmd_line.zip

    - Unzip it and execute:

haspdinst.exe -r -fr -kp -Purge

Now the dongle driver is uninstall.

If the USBdongle was plugged, the red light switched off.

I launched the LMTools and now the Flexid is not showed anymore.

I tried to launch CW for MCU V6.3 and got an error:

You should get the same problem for HC12.

From Freescale web site, download the last dongle driver:

    http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/site/overview.jsp?nodeId=01521027262444119D11A5

The file is USB dongle Driver Installer for Windows

Now launch FLEXId_D.exe, and re-install the FLEXID drivers.

Select FLEXid 9 and 10.

During the installation as my USBdongle was plugged, a message New hardware found /installed appeared and

the red light switched on.

At the end the Dongle installer propose to restart the computer.

I recommend you to select it.

To check if the dongle is correctly installed you can download the lmtools.

Please install the tool version available on our web site via the link:

      http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/site/overview.jsp?nodeId=01521027262444119D11A5

Select the right file:

Close the LMTOOLS.

Do you have the same on your side ?

To check if the USBdongle license is working I recommend you to check the default USBdongle license file downloaded from the web.

When you will launch the IDE you will get a strange message saying it’s the last day of license file.

Do you have it ?

This message is introduced by an issue between flexlm driver used on CW for HC12 and USBdongle.

Every time, every day you will launch the IDE you will get this message … but the license will work.

So don’t care about it.

You can remove this error message if you add the key:

FEATURE Win32_CWIDE_Limited metrowks 5.5 permanent uncounted \

Thank you Pascal for your detailed info.

We work on Windows XP 32 bit, so I am not sure if your instructions apply to our situation.

As I replied to Jenny, I can verify the presence of the correct license.dat ( the IDE won't start without it ), I can not verify if the dongle is recognized as the IDE starts without error message whether it is plugged or unplugged.

So I am still looking for a solution to see if our license is fully recognized. ( we haven't used it for a while and we installed the IDE on a new computer )

The reason why I want to understand this problem, is that we already had bad experiences with the freescale licensing mess: the orginal vendor who sold us the 4.5 version gave us the wrong license that stopped working after a year. We then had to prove that we did the purchase and I want to avoid any such trouble in the future.

I really would like to see a list of the products that we purchased with this license that I can print out and keep safe. I don't want to mess with driver installs/uninstalls. A product with that price tag ought to able to tell us we one keystroke exactly what the tool thinks that we have purchased. This is what is eaily done with every other IDE or licensed product that we use: get a list of what you have activated.

Thank you for your help.

Peter

Hi Peter,

You're using Win XP 32 bit.

By default the USBdongle should work fine with this OS.

All problems explained previously was introduced on Win 7 OS.

Now in some case we've experienced problem with XP and new USBDongle driver too.

However by default without any license file you should not be able to launch the IDE.

If you can launch it, it means you have a valid license somewhere under your PC.

I recommend you to perform a search for "license.dat" file under all your local hard disk and to rename them to license.dat_

At the end you should not be able to launch the IDE.

When you reach this point you can enable your dongle license file only.

With HC12 product you can check with the compiler tool for instance.

Launch the \prog\chc12.exe and click on Help + About.

Scroll down in the dialog message to have info about the license.

Have a great day,
Pascal
Freescale Technical Support
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: If this post answers your question, please click the Correct Answer button. Because I mess with my system , I would

like to understand why the dongle is recognized by LMTOOLS ( and the red

light is on ) and not the compiler.

I find it unacceptable that Freescale is wasting customer time with this

licensing mess. After all, we spent a lot of money for the product and have

to fight yet again to simply use it.

Thanks for your help , though.

Peter

On Mon, Oct 26, 2015 at 4:05 PM, trytohelp <admin@community.freescale.com>

Ok, I now deleted manually all driver files accessed by the dongle ( the

FLEXID installer did not fully clean up during uninstallation), the dongle

LED now remains dark. Before reinstalling, I wanted to check:

- the correct driver installation software. I have FLEXId_D.exe, the

proporties pane shows a file version of 16.0.0.321 on top when I select

Version in the List below it shows: 11.9.1.0. Is this the "old" XP 32 bit

version ?

- which drivers do I need: the installer offers to install Flex 7,8, 9, 10.

Thanks for your help

Peter

On Mon, Oct 26, 2015 at 5:24 PM, trytohelp <admin@community.freescale.com>

Pascal

Thank you for the installer, I did as you said:

- I disconnected the network

- double click on Click_To_Install_Drivers.bat

- I plugged the dongle, and two installers came up ( saying they don't pass

the XP logo test, but I let them execute)

- the dongle LED comes up

Unfortunately, I get the same problem when I run

Pascal

1) Thank you very much for the great video, unfortunately the problem

doesn't go away.

First, I can not open license_test_project.mcp ( it opens as xml file , not

as a project file) , but I can open license_test_project.old.mcp to which I

added file2.c to make it exceed the code size limitation. With or without

dongle, I get a C5300 error:

Error : C5300: Limitation: code size 48979 > 32768 bytes

file_2.c line 48991

Error : Compile failed

So license.dat is apparently not the problem, but the dongle is a problem.

Note that my USB device reads SafeNet Inc. HaskKey , not Alladin HaspKey

like yours.

Note: We never exceeded the code size limitation in our former projects, so

we probably never hit this problem. Your former vendor ( I think the name

was datacomm in the Netherlands) sold us a wrong license.dat that your

support corrected a couple of years ago. Could it be that they also sold us

the wrong USB dongle ?

2) I now understand why I missed your previously attached files. As you can

see in the screenshots, they don't show up in google mail, one has to go to

the forum to see them.

Can I send the dongle to Freescale Switzerland ( where we are located ) to

check if this is the correct one ?

Thanks for your help

Peter

On Thu, Oct 29, 2015 at 5:55 PM, trytohelp <admin@community.freescale.com>
