Parallel Command Converter

I use the Parallel Command Converter to program for MC56F8367, but there is no LPT port in my laptop. Can I use USB to LPT cable in this case

There is no guarantee that the adaptor's signal levels and timing can manage a debugging session with the CPU reliably, if at all. You have nothing to lose by trying it, though.

Hi,

I bought a USB-LPT cable for exactly that purpose and it doesn't work. Check the cable you're buying as most only support the printer port profile over USB and nothing further.

I ended up buying a Sunix PCMCIA I/O card. It has 1 parallel & 2 serial ports.

Hi,

We experienced several problem with interface using LPT port on host.

An USB/LPT adaptator will not work.

In fact I never heard from customer a working solution for that.

We recommend you to use the USBTap interface.

Hi,

This flash programmer doesn't work with parallel connection on host.

Several flash programmer tools are available:

\M56800x Support\56800E flash programmer works only with USBtap,

\ProcessorExpert\Tools\applications\flash_over_jtag works with Parallel port on host.
