Hi UcTechnoGeek,

I've done some tests using 32bit version of Windows 7 (build 7100).

I was able to install and run CodeWarrior v6.2 without any problem.

Connections below were checked and seem to work correctly:

(Simple project was loaded into MCU flash, stepping, I/O pins control via debugger)

* Full Chip Simulator

* P&E USB Multilink

* Softec HCS08

* HCS08 OpenSource BDM

I'm using CW6.2, recently downloaded, on WIN7 RTM 32-bit version of Ultimate, not the RC version (ref:7100). My laptop would not install x64-bit version due to a ROM BIOS issue. Anyway, I'm successfully running on WIN7x32 Ulimate with just one problem, my lack of experience with CW (;-0)).

I have excellent results with the new WIN7 O/S on all fronts. No, I dont work for MS.

The OSBDM driver also works fine. I plugged in my S08QE8 low power eval bd. from Future. The driver is stable and it recognized the eval. bd without issues ( I hate issues).

I'm trying to write an application that reads the temperature sensor on the eval bd. and sends it up to the host via USB serial. I have yet to find any help online. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Cause of some reason, I'm using Windows7 RC from last week, CW6.2 can run with no problem, but need to be set as 'Windows XP SP3 Compatible" mode.

CodeWarrior 7.1 for ColdFireV2 works too.

But, I got problems. I bought a download version of CodeWarrior BASIC, which version should I download? Evaluation or Special(Free) version?

And, the big problem is, FLEXlm cannot read USB dongle ID. I tried to install latest driver and driver updates. And also try different modes(XP SP3 compatible or run as administrator, etc.), it seems the driver cannot be installed correctly.

Every I run driver installer, it shows driver need to be updated.

I tried for 2 days.

Has any solution?

I tried to install Codewarrior on WIN 7 x64 bit Prof. edition, but the only one version that run correctly is Codewarrior V7.1 for Coldfire V2, in this moment i work with MCF52259EVB.

It is not possible to install Codewarrior v6.2 or latest version 6.3 because they are made for win x86 32bit OS, also if you change compatibility on precedent versions.

About driver problem for P&E tool cards I just got a newest driver with XP/Vista/7 32bit and 64 bit support.
This driver is very new and isn't available on P&E or Freescale website yet.

But if you need just write me an e-mail at tecnosolar@telematicaitalia.it and i'll reply with the installation file that is 27Mb size.

Thanks for the information.

I've use Win7 32bits version, CodeWarrior 7.1 for Coldfire v2 and CodeWarrior 6.3 for HCS08 can install correctly.

And, I already fixed the problem of USB dongle(that's just a misunderstanding).

Everything works fine, but error when closing CodeWarrior(v6.2). There is application error and I need to kill the process of CodeWarrior IDE using TaskManager.

Sorry for this late response on this thread.

After trying several ways to make CW work on WIN7, I got tired of CW crashing when it talks to hardware ( USB, QE8, BSD, MC13123). I wiped the drive on another system and installed WIN XP Home ed.

This cured the crashing and other issues that wouldn't work even in XP_SP2 compatibility mode under WIN7. I'm using WIN7 on all of my other PCs and love the new O/S. It's the target platform for this project but XP is needed for CW stability.

I'm currently evaluating IAR Workbench as an alternative to CW.

my $0.02 worth!

I've tested CW 6.3 for HCS08 on Win7 prof. 32 bit and Win7 home 32 bit. Everything's working fine (compiling, programming, debugging a MC9S08QG8), but when I close CW I got several error messages on both computers. It is absolutely reproduceable.

I HAVE THE SOLUTION !!!!!

I have CW 6.1 working on Windows7 x64 bit version.

Just do the following steps:

1) Install the p&e drivers version 10 from:

http://www.pemicro.com/blog/post.cfm/p-e-hardware-interface-drivers-version-10-windows-7

This includes drivers for all windows versions and windows 7 x86 and x64 too !!!

2) Copy from win32 intalled CodeWarrior (like xp 32bits) from Program Files\Frescale\CodeWarrior for Microcontrollers V6.1 to the c:\Program Files(x86)\Freescale\CodeWarrior for Microcontrollers V6.1

3) Now, this step is the MOST IMPORTANT:

Look at the file "Mwregsvr.exe" in the c:\Program Files(x86)\Freescale\CodeWarrior for Microcontrollers V6.1\bin and click the right button on this file, then click in properties.

Now, in compatibility tab,set the compatibility in WindowsXp (sp2) and set the checkbox

to run in administrator mode.

Now, click in aply button then click in OK(accept) button.

4) In the same folder, run once the file regservers.bat

When the windows ask for the permisions, just click yes everytime.

Now, the CW is running on Windows7 x64 !!!!

Jus try with CW 6.2 and 6.3 and tell me !!!

I'm using windows 7 x86 version. CodeWarrior crashes much less after I installed P&E driver 10 for win7.

I've try two days, crash only once.

It seems solved the problem almost.

That solution unfortunately does not work for me. Do the UAC settings play any part? Unfortunately it seems as if Freescales only weakness is keeping their dev tools up to date with OS releases...other than that they are pretty awesome.

Which CW version you use? 7.1 or 6.2/6.3? I use XP compatibility mode with administrator permission for CW 7.1 and 6.3.

Both upgrade to latest version.

CW 7.1 works not so smooth but acceptable.

I have tried using CW 6.2 and CW 6.3. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate x86. I have tried to run the IDE.exe file with administrator permissions in Win XP SP2 and 3 compatibility modes as well as the Regsvr.exe file under the same conditions. I have even tried running both files in Vista compatibility modes as well and I get absolutely no luck whatsoever. I have even tried in XP mode using the Microsoft virtual PC app and now I get licensing issues.

Wow, what I would do for a working solution!

I have that bad experience too. And I also have other problem using P&E USB MultiLink in XP. The MultiLink cannot be detect by windows when I running VirtualBox.

All I can suggest is, try to make the software environment clean and simple. (That's why I reinstall my XP)

As I tested, the USB dongle cannot be used in virtual machine, but I did not try XP mode, I use VirtualBox.

I'm using windows 7 home premium x86 version, installed CodeWarrior 6.3 and 7.1 eval version with 7.1.2a patch. They were installed with XP compatible and administrator permissions. P&E MultiLink driver version 10 installed too.

Cause of node lock license, I installed Flex License manager and dongle driver too.

For these weeks, CW crashed all the time, but it worked better after I installed P&E multilink driver ver 10. ( I'm not try Regsvr.exe cause I'm not using 64bits version)

Normally happened when do file access, like reading project file, reading normal files, compiling, linking.....

I try to do alejandrolunadj wrote, run regservers.bat to re-register the files. Hope it's working...

I am trying to do what alejandrolunadj suggested. Have got the IDE to work but facing problem while installing the drivers. I get an error message " can not run x86 build on this utility of x64 platform". This is strange since the drivers from PE micro are meant for x64.

OS: Windows 7 Home premium

CW: 6.2
