More data: When I try to compile C++ sources, it will only report not finding ProfessionalEditionMCU and fail compilation.

It seems in the case of the C compiler, it is looking for the first edition that gives the license, and it finds that onñly Special edition will fail.

But, of course that should be so: There is no feature '****EditionMCU" in the lcense.dat file!

There are features sucha as Win32_CWIDE_Unlimited for instance.

May there be an error in the license management system???

We have two floating standard licenses.

I have installed RedHat Linux 8 in a virtual machine, whose MAC has been used to register the products.

Once I have set the lmgrd service on, we have tried to use it with the following results: at first, verything went OK, but later compilation and loading is going at a very low speed.

From the lmgrd log, we can see all features seem to be detected OK:

13:28:25 (metrowks) Win32_ColdFire_Compiler Win32_ColdFireV1_Standard HI409284

13:28:25 (metrowks) ProcessorExpertHC08 Win32_CWIDE_Unlimited Win32_CWIDE_Unlimi

ted

13:28:25 (metrowks) HI404220 HI100100 PE_Free_BeansHC08

13:28:25 (metrowks) Win32_CWIDE_Limited HI100150 HI405294

13:28:25 (metrowks) Win32_ColdFire_Standard Win32_ColdFire_V4_ISS Win32_ColdFire

_PP_CCS_SIM

13:28:25 (metrowks) Win32_ColdFire_Flash Win32_Plugins_ColdFire_PnE Win32_ColdFi

re_V2_ISS

13:28:25 (metrowks) Win32_ColdFire_Connection ProcessorExpertMCF Win32_ColdFire_

Debugger

Dbug output from metrowks seems a little more scary, see a sample:

13:28:29 (metrowks) Checkin failed feature "Win32_ColdFire_Compiler": flex FlexL

M /dev/pts/1

13:28:29 (metrowks) ""

13:28:29 (metrowks) Checkin failed feature "Win32_ColdFireV1_Standard": flex Fle

xLM /dev/pts/1

13:28:29 (metrowks) ""

13:28:29 (metrowks) Checkin failed feature "HI409284": flex FlexLM /dev/pts/1

13:28:29 (metrowks) ""

For every client, we get the following set of lines:

13:38:32 (metrowks) UNSUPPORTED: "ProfessionalEditionMCU" (PORT_AT_HOST_PLUS )
Zara@Zara (License server does not support this feature (-18,327))
13:38:32 (metrowks) UNSUPPORTED: "ProfessionalEditionMCU" (PORT_AT_HOST_PLUS )
Zara@Zara (License server does not support this feature (-18,327))
13:38:33 (metrowks) UNSUPPORTED: "ProfessionalEditionMCU" (PORT_AT_HOST_PLUS )
Zara@Zara (License server does not support this feature (-18,327))
13:38:33 (metrowks) UNSUPPORTED: "ProfessionalEditionMCU" (PORT_AT_HOST_PLUS )
Zara@Zara (License server does not support this feature (-18,327))
13:38:33 (metrowks) UNSUPPORTED: "ProfessionalEditionMCU" (PORT_AT_HOST_PLUS )
Zara@Zara (License server does not support this feature (-18,327))
13:38:33 (metrowks) UNSUPPORTED: "ProfessionalEditionMCU" (PORT_AT_HOST_PLUS )
Zara@Zara (License server does not support this feature (-18,327))
13:38:33 (metrowks) UNSUPPORTED: "StandardEditionMCU" (PORT_AT_HOST_PLUS ) Zar
a@Zara (License server does not support this feature (-18,327))
13:38:33 (metrowks) UNSUPPORTED: "StandardEditionMCU" (PORT_AT_HOST_PLUS ) Zar
a@Zara (License server does not support this feature (-18,327))
13:38:33 (metrowks) UNSUPPORTED: "BasicEditionMCU" (PORT_AT_HOST_PLUS ) Zara@Z
ara (License server does not support this feature (-18,327))
13:38:33 (metrowks) UNSUPPORTED: "BasicEditionMCU" (PORT_AT_HOST_PLUS ) Zara@Z
ara (License server does not support this feature (-18,327))
(END)

What is happening?

If you are having network latency issues, you probably should not be using a floating license.

Second, make sure that your IT department has opened the IP ports that FlexLM uses to communicate. They will insist that they have done this, but in a number of the floating license problems I have dealt with, after several weeks of trials it comes down to the fact that they did not open the ports.

Finally, if you have not done so already, file an on-line service request on this.

---Tom

No, I have no latency issues (ping response time ~ 0.4 ms)

I *am* the IT department; i know all ports are open.

Of course; I will file a request. I just hoped someone had already lived vthrough this, and there was a quick answer.

Thanks!
