I have been using CW development tools v8.3 in Windows for a while. I wanted to move some work to my Mac platform options. These are the desktop versions of CW.

Unfortunately I did not get the updates for the Mac version

1. I am assuming the updates for the Mac OS as per this ref:

http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/site/overview.jsp?code=CW_UPDATES_MAC

are for the desktop version.

2. I have the following hardware/Mac OS configs and I am not sure which the Mac version works under.

a.) iMac Intel Core 2 Duo: OS 10.5.8

b.) iMac Power PC G4: OS 10.4.11/OS9.2,– has the option of either OSX or Classic OS.

c.) Power Mac G3 OS 9.2.2 – Already has CW Pro 5 and CW Pro 7 depending on startup

3. Before I go off and upgrade/patch the Mac 8.0 to 8.3 does it require the license file. If so how do I get this license code back as I registered my original CW product way back, about CW Pro Release 1, and I have only been getting the ‘Renewal’ versions. The original license file was lost with a computer crash years ago.

I want to move back to the Mac preferably the G4 or G3 as I am doing some ugly pointer to pointer to pointer and so on work. The Mac is a bit easier, particularly the G3/G4, to do some debug work vs Windows.

Freescale no longer supports the desktop version of the CodeWarrior tools for Mac and Windows. The CodeWarrior tools are for embedded development only.

Having said that, I will try to answer your questions, but don't expect them to be accurate (I am trying to recall six-year old details here), nor can I offer any follow-up support.

1) I do not know.

2) I think version 9 of the CodeWarrior tools might have run under Mac OS X, but I am not sure. Your best bet is to run CW under Mac OS 9. Any Mac that can run Mac OS 9 will do. That rules out the Intel Mac.

3) If CodeWarrior is still working on the Mac, you have a valid license file. Updating the tools from v8 to v8.3 should not require a new license. Make a copy of the license.dat file in the CodeWarrior folder before updating anything.

Thanks for the info.

"I am trying to recall six-year old details here" ... Heck that long ago, I lost track of CW after the Uni I was working at switched to teaching Java instead of C++ and CW as getting left behind in Java.

As for embedded, sorry not my league, its all dektop mil tac sim tools this end.

As it is, I am only using CW as a base tool to iron out issues with code the actuall updates for v8 are not critical. I do have a working v5 and 7 Pro on the OS 9.2 Mac. The main work is in Microsoft VS with or without a GUI tool like Qt or Zinc.

Having v8 running under OSX would just save switching OS each time I needed to use CW, but not mission critical.

With respect to the CW 8.1 - 3 updates they appear to be of the size for the desktop version based on some comments I have seen elsewhere.

Anyway I can but try and see.
