M54451EVB: Can it be run from Windows XP?

Can the M54451EVB be exercised with Windows XP and HyperTerminal?

(rather than install and learn both Linux and CodeWarrior for this ColdFire)

I want to exercise the SDRAM only (write, read & verify).

My Laptop has Windows XP Pro SP3, 512MB RAM.

Instructions that are online, paper, and on the CD don't exactly agree.

Hi,

We recommend to use the CodeWarrrior for ColdFire to evaluate the ColdFire parts. The CodeWarrior for ColdFire can work with Windows XP, 7/8 etc. You may find more detail information for CodeWarrior from below:

I am using the M54451EVB. The quick start guide appears to be in error. The one I have in from the box is revised (10 setps) compared to what NXP has online (7 steps). Anyway, the file that is referred to is

mcf52211_uart_to_usb.inf

the file provided is

mcf52211_uart_to_usb.ini

When attempting to install the device driver, Win XP does NOT recognize this file as what it needs.

(Another disappointment is the USB port in the guide (J3) does not initiate a USB connection with Windows. USB port
J501 initiates a USB connection with Win XP.

Please provide the file if possible.
