For consistency this is also done on Linux. As part of this process the VID/PID for the hardware (BDM) has been changed. This will allow the co-existence of Freescale's OSBDM-JM60 hardware while using a new driver for USBDM.

First of all I'd like to thank you for the great work on USBDM.

I managed to get USBDM 4.5 working on an ubuntu 8.04 (32-bit) by remanimg a few of the dlls.

The same 4.5 failed to install on a debian stable 64-bit.

I was not able to install V4.6 in either of the system mentioned above.

Both ubuntu 32-bit and debian 64-bit are missing several libraries (or have an incompatible version),

I believe most of the problem can be easily solved by recompiling the software on the target machine.

I downloaded the source distribution but I cannot figure out how to build it.

Do you have any documentation?

thanks

I can at least partly answer that one. If it is a native build, it is not CW eclipse, it is Eclipse CDT.

Previously, I had a Win XP 32 bits computer.

I have USBDM with the 4.5 and 4.6 version, and I have the following problems with Windows 7:

- Both Bootloader.exe versions (4.5 and 4.6) fail to run.

- The CFV1_FlashProgrammer version 4.5 runs OK, but the CFV1_FlashProgrammer version 4.6 fails (see figure attached)

I carefully avoided to mix the dll of different versions and ran the programmes with the following compatibility options : "run in XP SP3 mode" and "Run as Administrator".

I use CodeSourcery for CFV1 and both versions and dll runs OK.

Do you have an idea what is going wrong?

best regards

Thierry

I finally managed to compile everything (except the java stuff which still does not compile properly) on debian.

I can run the standalone flashers without any issues.

CW still refuses to work though. When I attempt to launch I get a generic error without any explanation.

How do I debug what is wrong?

I run ldd on the gdi.so to make sure there are no issues with the shared libraries but beside that I really have no idea what ewlse to try.

Thanks for the update. I didn't realize Leave Power was a known issue in 4.6, and was just trying to help track

it down. Is there a place with an active list of known bugs?

On the connection/optons dialog, Use Reset option is described in the doc:

<<<

Use RESET signal - Many of the target microcontrollers do not have a dedicated reset signal. This is not a problem as it is possible to reset the target using the BKGD mode commands through the BDM interface. However, the RESET signal on the BDM interface will often still be connected to the Reset signal of the processor. This option allows the BDM to monitor and control the RESET signal when appropriate.
>>>

Could you explain that a bit more?

Bill
