Zephyr Projectのトピックcamera porting and zephyr on i.mx 93 evk

Hello everyone! Noobie here,

I have read zephyr documentation on their support for NXP i.MX93 EVK. I am a little confused on what is the best approach. My main use case is camera porting, so my understanding is that I will need to port Zephyr on the A55 core. I have seen some experimental examples on Zephyr's repository, but no official support for MIPI-CSI.

My other question is should I run Zephyr on both A55 and M33 or just on the A55?

Thank you!

Hi @csalitre

Just let you know we are developing a Bar scanner demo for FRDM-93 board, this demo is running on Zephyr OS, A55 core, will support MIPI-CSI. it is very similar to your requirements.

Regards

Hi,

For i.MX93, Zephyr is typically used on the M33 for real-time control, while Linux on the A55 handles camera and media pipelines. Zephyr on A55 is currently suitable mainly for early driver bring-up; official MIPI-CSI camera support is still not available in Zephyr.
Relevant upstream references you may find useful:

Linux Camera drivers

https://web.git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/next/linux-next.git/commit/?id=fa9e6df636fb8b3b27570f38c53640c9e2b02f79

https://patchew.org/linux/20251216065956.13604-1-himanshu.bhavani@siliconsignals.io/20251216065956.13604-3-himanshu.bhavani@siliconsignals.io/

https://web.git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/next/linux-next.git/commit/?id=5bd6b8c1bb2d49d5ff15c7c47d6b33d2d38785f0

Zephyr camera driver

https://github.com/zephyrproject-rtos/zephyr/commit/c784481ca039ccd606a192ee07bc83f6b0117e59

Camera brindup guide from Silicon Signals

https://siliconsignals.io/blog/v4l2-camera-stack-step-by-step-guide-for-custom-devices/

Hope this helps.
