Which certification program can I get with 88W8997 derivative certifications in Wi-Fi certification?

Hello,

We are using the Apalis imx8 which has a 88W8997 based AzureWave wifi module AW-CM276NF. Apalis iMX8's OS is Linux.

Since there is an AN12976 as documentation for the 88W8997, I would assume that I can receive a W-fi derivative certification.

However, the AN12976 is written based on 88W8987 and does not say what certification program we can receive for 88W8997. Since we are not yet members of the Wi-Fi Alliance, we cannot look for this in the derivative certification process.

Please let me know all the derivative certification programs that the 88W8997 is eligible to receive.

And is the BT component certification correct below?

Please let me know if there are any other ways to simplify the certification process.

Simplifying the steps for certification would help us immensely. Cost and time are very important in development.

You can also use as a base the AN12976 for the 88W8997. Also you can check if you can find helpful the UM11560.

For the second question , I believe that you can check the Declaration ID D058982 and D054692 as those are the latest ones, could you please check them and confirm if those are helpful for you ?

It is important to notice that the certification will need to take place even as both HW and SW are customized for the application, still you can use the derivative process mentioned in the application note so you do not have to go through the complete process as some parts can be derived from the ones already done, this case is similar with Bluetooth.

This is a question about Wi-fi certification.

If I do not customize HW and SW in 88W8997, which certification program do I get through derivative certification? Please be specific about the items that will be certified.

In AN12976, 88W8987 seems to have 11n, ac, PMF certifications. I find it odd that it does not have 11a, b, g, is that correct?

I have no choice but to ask the vendor about the Wi-Fi certification of the device, as I cannot find any modules or ICs in the Wi-Fi Alliance "Product Finder", not only for the 88W8997, but also for other manufacturers.

Hello,

By modifications in HW and SW i refer to the final product, so your final product will need to be certified.

We do have module partners with the 88W8997, if you go to the product page of the device under the hardware tab you can see a list of available modules that might be what you are looking for

Please tell me what items of certification program I can get from the Wi-Fi Alliance on Derivative Certification by using this module.
I think you know the list of certification programs as you have explained derivative certification in AN12976.

Of course I will not change the HW or SW of the module.
Even in that case, I cannot get a Derivative Certification with 88W8997 and I have to do all the steps of the certification using Flex Track?

Hello,

What I mean with the HW and SW modifications are in your final product, not the module . If you are looking for the information in your specific module and not your end application , please contact the module manufacturer for the details of your part.
