S32Z2 RTD not showing up

Hello NXP Team,

Our team at Visteon is currently working on the S32Z2 family of micro-controllers and are using the S32Z280 EVB for our development activities.

We are trying to install the RTD for S32Z2/E2 in the S32 Design Studio IDE, and despite following the mentioned steps in the manual, we are unable to install the RTDs.

The steps which were followed are as follows: -
1. Downloaded the "SW32ZE_RTD_R21-11_2.0.1_D2505_DesignStudio_updatesite.zip" RTD zip file.
2. Opened the S32DS 3.6.6 IDE.
3. Went to Help → S32DS Extensions and Updates.
4. Selected the above mentioned RTD zip file.

The host machine being used in this case is Ubuntu 24.04

We are working with the S32Z2 family using the S32Z280 EVB and are facing issues installing the RTD for S32Z2/E2 in S32 Design Studio 3.6.6. We followed the documented steps—downloading SW32ZE_RTD_R21-11_2.0.1_D2505_DesignStudio_updatesite.zip, opening S32DS, and selecting it via Help → Extensions and Updates—but the installation fails. The host machine is Ubuntu 24.04, and we’ve attached a public video link for reference. Kindly advise on resolving this installation issue.

Thanks for the post.

Unfortunately, RTD is not supported on Linux OS, that's why you can't select RTD package in Extensions and Updates, you can install it as an offline package, but it is not tested and doesn't work mostly because Linux is case sensitive OS and there are some differences in filenames.

Are you able to use S32 Design Studio with the RTD in Windows environment, which works fine with the settings you mentioned.

Yes, I was able to install the RTDs for the S32Z2 in the Windows environment using the same steps.

Thanks for the steps you mentioned earlier. After the successful installation of the RTDs, I am trying to create a new S32DS application project.

I was following another thread in which you had guided to switch to GCC version 10.2 for project creation, and while following those steps, I came across this issue:

The hyperlink present there just opens the S32DS Extensions and Updates page, for which we would require a .zip file of the toolchain, which I couldn't locate in the website.

I found an installer for Windows (.exe) for Windows, which didn't work, but has installed the Toolchain in the directory "C:\NXP\gcc-10.2-arm32-eabi".

Please guide me for the steps to be followed for this issue.

I suggest directly installing it from Help->"S32DS Extensions and Updates"

Hi @chenyin_h

In the S32DS Extensions and Updates, I don't see an option for "NXP GDD for Arm Processors v10.2", only the versions 11.4 and 15.1 are available for installation, which are already installed.

This is why I was exploring the resources in the NXP's website.

Thanks for your reply.

1. I had done a test by uninstalling the GCC10.2 firstly, and seems the GCC10.2 could still be found under the available/update tab.

I suggest try the following steps to restore defaults update sites and then have another check on the available packages:

2. If still issues, you may manually try installing the mentioned toolchain under the directory C:\NXP\S32DS.3.6\S32DS\build_tools\gcc_v10.2\

HI @chenyin_h , thanks for replicating the issue on your end and for the end-to-end support.

I followed the instructions for restoring the default update sties, but it didn't work either. Thereafter I manually installed the GCC 10.2 toolchain to the desired path, and that solved the problem.
